What Happens Inside Immersia XR? Full Experience Explained
At Immersia XR, visitors wear lightweight XR headsets and physically walk through digital story environments. You move through real space while seeing and interacting with a virtual world that responds to your presence. It is not a seated experience, not a game, and not a film.
Step by Step: Your Visit
Arrival and check-in. Arrive at The Sidings, ground floor of Waterloo Station, approximately 10 minutes before your booked time slot. The venue is a 4-minute walk from the main station concourse.
Choose your experience. Six stories are available: Alice in Wonderland, Moon Landing, Tales of Aladdin, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Eternal Tang Dynasty. You select your preferred story on arrival.
Headset fitting. A team member helps fit your lightweight headset. The process takes about 2 minutes. The headsets are comfortable and designed to be worn by visitors aged 5 and above.
Enter the story. Once fitted, you step into the experience space. The virtual world appears around you. You walk freely through the environment, following the story as it unfolds. Characters appear, environments shift, and the world responds to your movement.
The experience. Each story lasts approximately 30 minutes. You move at your own pace. There are no time pressures. You explore, discover, and follow the narrative alongside everyone in your group.
After the experience. You remove the headset and return to the real world. Most visitors spend a few minutes discussing what they experienced. Staff are available for questions or to help book additional experiences.
What It Feels Like
The most common reaction is surprise at how natural it feels to walk through a virtual world. Unlike seated VR where you observe from a fixed point, walking creates a sense of genuine presence. Visitors describe feeling as though they have actually visited another place rather than watched a screen.
The technology is unobtrusive. The headset is light. The images are high resolution (12K). The sound is spatial — you hear things from the direction they come from. The overall effect is less like technology and more like stepping through a doorway into another world.
